Congratulations!

Because you are here, you're serious in your desire to kick cigarettes out of your life. You've asked for this course hoping to find some help to get you moving in the right direction. You've come to the right place!

Use the information in the following lessons to set yourself up for a successful quit program. You'll learn what to expect as you go through the process of recovery from nicotine addiction, and the knowledge you'll gain will provide you with solid tools to help you manage your quit more easily. A little preparation and education will put you in the driver's seat with smoking cessation, which is right where you want to be.

The focus of today's lesson is on thinking about why you want to quit smoking. Listing out your reasons in as much detail as possible is a good motivator, and also makes for a great first entry in a quit journal. Once you quit smoking, use your journal to jot your thoughts and feelings in daily. It's a valuable tool that you can refer to - seeing just how far you've come can be a big boost when you're having a bad day.

For now though, let's work on creating a solid list of your personal reasons for quitting. Nothing is too small of insignificant to be included. Carry your list with you and add to it as things come to mind.

Be proud of yourself. You've taken the first step toward freedom from addiction, and that takes courage!

By focusing your thoughts on your own personal reasons for quitting, you are laying the foundation for cessation. It all starts in your mind, and once you get your thoughts moving in the right direction, taking action will come more easily. It's like a snowball rolling downhill. Channel your thoughts onto that sheet of paper, and you'll begin to gain momentum. Once you start that snowball rolling, you'll be amazed at what you'll be able to do to change your life for the better. Make it happen!
"If you want to change your life, change your mind."
